This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you visit or use the Services, place an order, upload materials for a personalized product, or otherwise communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy regarding personal information, this Privacy Policy controls.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the practices described below.
Personal Information We Collect or Process
"Personal information" means information that identifies, relates to, or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. It does not include information that has been anonymized or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an individual. Depending on how you interact with the Services and as permitted by applicable law, we may collect or process:
- Contact details, including your name, billing and shipping address, phone number, and email address.
- Payment and transaction information, including payment method, payment confirmation, order details, and transaction history. Payment card details are generally processed by Shopify and our payment providers, and we do not receive complete payment card numbers when they process the payment.
- Account information, if you create an account, including login credentials, preferences, and settings.
- Shopping and transaction activity, including products you view, add to your cart, purchase, return, exchange, or cancel.
- Customization information and customer content, including pet photographs, pet names, personalization instructions, selected options, design preferences, preview approvals, revision requests, and other materials you submit for a personalized product.
- Communications with us, including customer service inquiries, feedback, and information you provide when contacting us.
- Device and usage information, including your device, browser, network connection, IP address, identifiers, and information about how and when you interact with the Services.
Personal Information Sources
We may collect personal information:
- Directly from you, including when you visit the Services, place an order, upload a pet photograph, approve a design, request a revision, subscribe to marketing emails, or contact us.
- Automatically through the Services, including through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
- From Shopify and our service providers, when they provide technology, payment, analytics, advertising, email, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment, shipping, fraud prevention, or other services on our behalf.
- From business partners or other third parties, where permitted by law.
How We Use Personal Information
Depending on how you interact with us, we may use personal information to:
- Provide and fulfill the Services. This includes processing payments and orders; creating personalized designs and products; sending previews; processing approvals and revisions; arranging production, fulfillment, and shipping; handling returns, replacements, and refunds; and providing customer support.
- Tailor and improve the Services. This includes remembering preferences, understanding how customers use the Services, improving products and website performance, and recommending relevant products.
- Send marketing and show advertising. We may send promotional emails when permitted by law and show or measure online advertising. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time. We may still send non-promotional communications about your account, orders, previews, production, or delivery.
- Protect the Services. We may authenticate accounts, prevent fraud, investigate unlawful or unsafe activity, protect customers and the public, and maintain a secure shopping experience.
- Communicate with you. We use personal information to answer questions, provide support, request information needed for an order, and maintain our business relationship.
- Meet legal obligations. We may comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, resolve disputes, enforce our terms and policies, and establish or defend legal claims.
Customer Photos and Personalized Content
Pet photographs and customization materials are used by default only as reasonably necessary to design, produce, fulfill, and support your order. This may include sharing the minimum information needed with artists, manufacturers, or fulfillment partners working on the order.
We will not use your submitted photographs or personalized product content in our website portfolio, social media, advertising, or other public marketing without obtaining separate, clear permission from you. Marketing permission is optional, is not required to place an order, and may be withdrawn for future uses by contacting us.
Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember preferences, understand website activity, measure advertising, and provide relevant marketing. Services currently used may include Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, and Shopify technologies.
Where required, our Shopify Cookie banner allows visitors to accept, decline, or manage non-essential cookies and similar technologies. You can revisit your privacy or cookie choices through the controls made available on the Services. Disabling some technologies may affect certain website features.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to third parties for legitimate business purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy, including:
- Shopify and service providers that support our website, payments, analytics, advertising, email, customer service, cloud storage, fraud prevention, and other business operations.
- Artists, manufacturers, and fulfillment partners in China or the United States when reasonably necessary to create, produce, package, or deliver a personalized order.
- Shipping and logistics providers as necessary to deliver orders and address shipment issues.
- Advertising and marketing partners, including Google, Meta, and TikTok, to measure and provide advertising, subject to applicable law and your available privacy choices.
- Parties you direct or authorize us to share information with, including when you separately authorize public use of customer content.
- Government authorities or other parties when necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, or complete a business transaction such as a merger, financing, or sale of assets.
Our providers and partners may process information under their own privacy notices or under agreements with us, depending on their role. We do not authorize artists, manufacturers, or fulfillment partners to use customer photographs or customization materials for their own marketing.
Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify. Shopify collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services to provide and improve Shopify's services. Information submitted through the Services may be transmitted to Shopify and other providers located outside your country.
To learn more about Shopify's processing practices, visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. Depending on where you live, you may also use the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Third-Party Websites and Links
The Services may link to websites or platforms operated by third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy or security practices. Please review the applicable privacy notices before providing information to a third party. Information posted in public or semi-public spaces, including social platforms, may be visible and used by others.
Children's Data
The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority in their jurisdiction. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information may contact us to request deletion. We do not knowingly sell or share, as those terms are defined by applicable law, personal information of individuals under 16.
Security and Retention
No security system is perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive or confidential information through unsecured channels.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, fulfill and support orders, maintain business and tax records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. The applicable period depends on the type of information and why it was collected.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. These rights may include:
- Access or knowledge: requesting access to personal information we hold about you.
- Deletion: requesting deletion of personal information, subject to applicable exceptions.
- Correction: requesting correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Portability: requesting a copy of certain personal information in a portable format.
- Opting out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising: where provided by applicable law, you may use our data sharing opt-out page or contact us. Where required and supported by Shopify, recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control may also be processed for the browser or device sending the signal.
- Marketing preferences: you may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in an email. This will not stop transactional or service messages about your account or orders.
If you reside in the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
You may submit a request using the contact information below. We may need to verify your identity and may request proof that an authorized agent is permitted to act for you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right and will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we process personal information, please contact us first so we can review it. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to appeal our response or complain to your local data protection authority. UK residents may contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
International Transfers
Personal information may be transferred, stored, or processed outside the country where you live, including in the United States and China, because Shopify, our providers, artists, manufacturers, or fulfillment partners may operate there.
When applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use or require a lawful transfer mechanism appropriate to the circumstances. For transfers subject to UK data protection law, this may include the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, an adequacy regulation, or another legally recognized safeguard, as applicable.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised version, update the "Last updated" date, and provide any notice required by applicable law.
